William Wiley

b. 1937

Born in Bedford, Indiana; lives in Woodacre, California.

With Canetti and Suzuki Roshi's Beginner's Mind in mind, I went to Tamarind to make monotypes. I hoped to please and surprise myself - and I did both. The prints reflect my earthly concerns and musings. I think it's an "interesting" group, but you should see for yourself.

Some of the symbols I used are from books I have on alchemy, medieval woodcuts, and Konrad Gesner's beasts and animals. The specific symbols for the fours seasons are chemical signs. I've tempered it all with my "crock-eyed" humor.
