Born in Oakland, California; lives in Corona del Mar, California.
Tony DeLap is a pioneer of the Minimalist movement in California. For many years, he has created abstract, geometric paintings and sculpture, using a limited palette and precise line to define space. An influential artist and teacher in Southern and Northern California, Bruce Nauman, James Turrell, and John McCracken were among his students. DeLap was one of the few important LA artists who never worked at Tamarind in Los Angeles, so we invited him to Tamarind Institute, where he made a suite of four exquisite lithographs related to his recent paintings.
