ARTIST

Joseph Almyda

1926—2011

Born in Florida.

Almyda began his career as a figurative artist and, like many artists of his generation, later moved toward abstraction, often fusing the two styles. After residencies in New Mexico, at the Wurlitzer Foundation in Taos and Tamarind, in the mid-’80s, he fell in love with the desert landscape. From then on, his work took inspiration from nature.
