Outi Pieski collaborated with compatriot and Tamarind Master Printer Valpuri Remling in the Spring of 2018. Pieski is a Finnish-Sámi artist from Utsjoki, the Sámi area of Northern Finland. Her work as an installation artist and painter integrates the Nordic traditions and rituals of the Sámi people within the contemporary discourse. Pieski was recently awarded the most prestigious art prize of Finland, awarded by the Fine Arts Academy of Finland. As part of the prize, she will have a solo exhibition at Espoo Museum of Modern Art (EMMA) later this year. This forum will bring a new focus to the Sámi visual culture of Finland.
