Artist's statement:
These small prints of organic subjects are a continuation of themes executed in paint and graphite over the past few years. In these prints, the layering of images and papers adds both a physical depth and a sense of romantic mystery. The birds and plants were printed on pages of old French and German paperback books. In most of the prints, printed forms were then cut out and adhered to other original foreign book pages. The completed images, further adhered to larger, neutral backing papers, effectively acquired layers of meaning and age. They are, paradoxically, depersonalized and isolated, yet also universal, demanding quiet contemplation by the viewer.
