This studio course is designed to simulate the
professional artist-printer relationship in the
collaborative printmaking workshop. Students
will be expected to explore their ideas and
develop imagery in the context of the unique
possibilities of the medium of lithography.
Artist participants, selected from any major or
discipline, will collaborate with student
printers at Tamarind. No technical knowledge
of lithography is necessary, but artists should
expect to spend a minimum of 15 hours in the
workshop outside of the scheduled class time.
In the past artists have spent $200-600 in
material costs over the course of the semester.
Artists will work in close cooperation with
dierent Tamarind printers o n a n a verage o f
ve l ithographs, w hich w ill b e p roofed,
editioned, and retained by the artist.
Enrollment is limited to 6 students. Preference
will be given to graduate students, seniors, and
to those who have not taken the course
previously. If interested please submit a brief
artist statement and pdf of 10 images to
Brandon Gunn and Karsten Creightney (email
below), with the subject “Tamarind
Collaborative Class”. Deadline for submission is
November 8th. Students will be contacted to
schedule a short interview with Brandon and
Karsten. All interviews will be completed by
the end of November. Restriction: Permission
of instructor.
