NEW RELEASES / R. LUKE DUBOIS
“I’m a big fan of the strategic misuse of contemporary technology to make art, that can, in some way, interrogate that technology in turn.” —R. Luke DuBois
Luke DuBois demonstrated the many graphic possibilities of the oscilloscope, a laboratory instrument commonly used to analyze the waveform of electronic signals. DuBois delights in outdated technology, like this device, which he describes as “an electron gun focused by magnets that you can use to draw with pure light.” Among the more enduring moments of his drawing with the oscilloscope are these two editions, Oscillographics #1 and #2.
