LindA Linko
b. 1979 in Helsinki, Finland / based in Helsinki, Finland
Linda Linko explores color, movement, and the tensions between elements in her work. “I am fascinated by certain kinds of ‘non-forms’ as well as semiotic associations—in simpler terms, the unknown,” she writes. “My work strives to break free from the constraints of verbalization and communication, leaving room for the viewer’s own interpretation. Although my style is abstract, I have been influenced by typography and 1960s Polish poster design. There is also an underlying interest in classical modernist painting and themes such as still life and portraiture, which I interpret loosely in my own way.”
Linko graduated from the University of Art and Design in 2004, and is shaped by her background in design. Her works are influenced by both contemporary painting and 1960s Polish poster design. Linko is a member of the Finnish Painter’s Union and Helsinki Artists’ Association.
