Brandon Gunn, Tamarind Master Printer
Professor of Practice/Education Director
Brandon J. Gunn joined the Tamarind staff in January 2016 as Director of Education. Gunn is originally from Orem, Utah. After receiving a Masters degree in Printmaking at Illinois State University in 2006, and the Tamarind Master Printer Certificate in 2008, he began teaching full time, in addition to producing his own artwork, printing collaboratively, and constructing leather rollers. Gunn has considerable experience as a collaborative printer and educator, and is extremely knowledgeable in traditional and modern lithography, intaglio, woodcut, and digital printing techniques.
He has taught undergraduate and graduate level courses at Santa Fe Community College, Concordia University in Montreal, Brigham Young University Idaho, and Indiana University in Bloomington. He has also printed at Normal Editions Workshop, Stinger Editions, and for Indiana University’s visiting artist program. Gunn is responsible for the internationally recognized Professional Printer Training Program and the intensive Summer Workshop. He also regularly conducts external workshops and presentations, researches new materials and techniques, and consults with educational institutions, workshops and suppliers in the field.

Alli Gaines
Alli Gaines is an interdisciplinary artist with a focus in Printmaking and Textiles from Salt Spring Island, BC, Canada. Alli completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts Interdisciplinary at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design in 2019. Alli’s personal practice in Printmaking is focused around archiving her family history through the reproduction of documents, photographs and ephemera. Tamarind has been a dream of Alli’s since completing her undergraduate and she is so excited to be attending Tamarind! Alli plans to open her own collaborative printmaking studio and residency, with the hope to support Indigenous artists and spread her love of lithography.
Jemiina Halonen
Jemiina Halonen is a visual artist and printmaker from Helsinki, Finland. They graduated with a BFA in Art and Culture from Satakunta University of Applied Sciences in 2013 and an MFA in printmaking from Uniarts Helsinki’s Academy of Fine Arts in 2024. After working in various positions in the arts and culture field along with their art practice, they found their calling in collaborative printmaking. With the skills gained at the Tamarind Printer Training Program, they hope to work as a collaborative printer and technician and offer their knowledge and experience for the use of other artists and creatives and to make the world of lithography more accessible and inclusive.
Melanie Eng
Melanie Eng is a printmaker born and based in San Francisco, California. She received her BFA in Print Media from California College of the Arts in 2020, where she first discovered her love for lithography. Following her studies, she interned under Tamarind Master Printer Cole Rogers at Highpoint Center for Printmaking, further affirming her pathway in print. Outside of print, she has worked at multiple non-profits throughout the Bay Area in artist development, accessibility, and community education. Melanie continues to focus on collaborative printmaking and community access and anticipates one day opening her own collaborative studio in California.
Miriam Penrose
Miriam Penrose is an artist and printmaker based in Melbourne, Australia. She is a graduate of the Australian National University, where she earned a degree in Visual Art majoring in Printmedia and Drawing. In 2024 she completed a 12-month “Apprentice Printer” position at Australian Print Workshop, learning the art of collaborative printmaking from some of the country’s finest printmakers. She is passionate about sharing her love of lithography and collaboration with others, and building community through art. Upon completion of Tamarind’s Printer Training Program, she hopes to share her newfound knowledge with the Australian printmaking community and invigorate the field of collaborative fine art printmaking in Australia.
Miriana Wasserman
Miriana Wasserman is an artist, printmaker, and curator. She completed her BA at Aberystwyth University, in Wales, where she was introduced to lithography by Tamarind Master Printer Paul Croft. After graduating from Aberystwyth, she moved to London where she continued to develop her practice at Oaks Editions Lithography Studio. Her art practice integrates Hebrew calligraphy, Jewish mysticism, and themes of peace and reflection, fostering connections between personal identity and broader societal issues. Miriana is excited to develop her skills as a lithographer at Tamarind and looks forward to applying them back to both her practice and work as a collaborative printer.
Subin Cho
Subin Cho is a printmaker from South Korea whose practice centers on fine art lithography. After earning her BFA from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University in 2023, she gained experience supporting the Print, Paper, and Graphic Arts as a studio assistant. She expanded her practice at Muskat Studios in Somerville, Massachusetts, where she assisted Tamarind Master Printer Carolyn Muskat with artist collaborations and studio operations. Through the Tamarind Printer Training Program, Subin hopes to deepen her understanding of collaborative printing and, in the future, establish a professional lithography studio in Korea.
Ulises Ramos
Ulises Ramos was born in Mexicali and raised in Ciudad Obregón, Sonora, Mexico. He received his AFA from Pima Community College in 2018 and his BFA in Printmaking from the University of Arizona in 2023. Now based in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Ramos’s work is characterized by expressive linework and the human figure, often exploring themes of identity, memory, and self-discovery. He has been recognized with awards including Best of Printmaking, Best of Show, and Best of Drawing from the Louis Carlos Bernal Gallery Juried Exhibition, and has been published in Sandscript magazine. A former member of Paperworks Collective and the Sienna Collective, Ramos currently serves as a board member of Raíces Taller 222 Art Gallery & Workshop in Tucson, Arizona. In attending the 2025–2026 Printer Training Program at Tamarind Institute, he hopes to expand his technical expertise and collaborative practice in lithography to one day teach at the university level.
