Liliana Porter

b. 1941 in Buenos Aires, Argentina; lives in Rhinebeck, NY

Artist Liliana Porter was welcomed back to Tamarind’s workshop in 2013 after her residency in 2010. Porter created five new editions, incorporating her signature bunnies and delightful sense of humor. Porter’s wry wit is heightened by the simplicity of her compositions and drawings. Two of the five editions incorporate three-dimensional elements. To See Gold reveals a bunny staring at an orb of gold just within– or out of–reach. To Dress Up features a bunny wearing a tiny hand-sewn dress.

Porter, a native Argentinian, is represented by several galleries internationally, and her work can be found in more than a hundred museum and private collections. Liliana Porter’s work has been reviewed in Artforum, Art in America, and Sculpture Magazine, among others. Recent solo shows include those at El Museo de Barrio in New York City; The Perez Art Museum in Miami; Galería Luciana Brito in São Paulo, Brasil; ART OMI in Ghent, NY; Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, GA; El Museo Nacional de Artes Visuales in Montevideo; Museo Provincial de Bellas Artes Franklin Rawson in San Juan, Argentina; Museo de Arte de Zapopan in Guadalajara, Mexico; Sicardi Gallery in Houston, TX; Barbara Krakow Gallery in Boston, MA; and Galerie Mor-Charpentier in Paris, France.
